Wilton superintendent to resign in a year

After months of discussing the superintendent contract for the Wilton School District, the school board was pleased to come up with an agreement that everyone could agree on during their last regular meeting. Just when the board felt they could move on with other business, Supt. Craig Johnson read his resignation from the Wilton School. The new contract approved included an increase to Johnson’s salary from $72,000 to $76,000; a four-day work week during the summer months. They also approved of 10 out-of-state professional development days in the fall and another 10 to be approved following the Christmas vacation. The contract discussion was reopened when concern was heard about administration not being present in the school enough. The board wanted to curb some of the days that were being used for professional development. The board wanted Johnson to consider doing much of his professional development during the summer. Even though the committee of Lodee Arnold and Bill Harris felt they had come to an agreeable contract at their meeting, there was still much to discuss about the contract with the rest of the board.
