Washburn, Wilton see increase is student count
Both Washburn and Wilton public schools have seen an increase in their student population as numbers jumped from the end of the school year this spring.
According to Washburn Public School Superintendent Penny Veit-Hetletved, the district saw a student body count jump by almost 40 students.
“I attribute the increase to several families who have moved in and an inordinate increase in open enrollment students,” Veit-Hetletved explained.
At the end of the 2022-2023 school year, Washburn had 354 students. As of this month, Washburn jumped to 395 students.
