Washburn Public Library receives $10K for summer reading program

Washburn Public Library  was one of 17 entities across the state to receive a piece of funding totaling just over a quarter of a million dollars.
It was announced $10,000 will be given to the public library in Washburn as a grant to help cover the costs for local programs ensummer reading.
“Regular reading is essential for our young people to develop general literacy skills, along with the ability to think critically and analyze material that is important to daily life,” stated North Dakota Superintendent Kirsten Baesler in a press release issued in September. “I was pleased that all of the 17 libraries and schools that applied for grant assistance were able to receive a share of the funds that were available.
