Washburn’s Ambulance Squad has a shiny new set of wheels, as a brand-new rig arrived in town last week.
Red, white, blue and silver, the 2019 Ford Ambulance is the newest addition to the Washburn Volunteer Ambulance Service fleet.
Squad leader Mark Lelm said the new ambulance, which arrived last week, will replace a 2003 model.
The rig comes with an automatic lift and advanced light controls, as well as an updated and more safe interior that includes harnesses for crew members.
The ambulance was ordered in January and cost approximately $250,000, which was raised through fundraisers, grants and regular ambulance call fees.
