Walking school bus considered
By Michael Johnson, Editor
The Washburn School District remains in good shape in the transportation department. The school has been able to replace all but two older buses in the fleet. They continue to set aside funds in order to plan to replace those as well. With the transportation in good position, one more mode of transportation is being considered. The Washburn Mommy’s group may be looking at a way to create a walking school bus for those living within a couple blocks of the school. The idea comes after last month’s discussion on whether students living within a couple blocks of the school should be picked up by bus, or if it would be better for the students health and learning to walk to school.
