WAEDA views studies
By Michael Johnson, Editor
Representatives from Praxis Strategy Group were present to talk with the Washburn Area Economic Development Association and went over the Housing Feasibility Study and Motel Feasibility Study. The intent of the study was to show why housing and a hotel would work in Washburn not how it would work. Basic studies showed that business industries were stable. This county has more second homes than any other county in the state. That showed that people wanted to keep roots to the Washburn area. Traffic on US Hwy 83 through Washburn is up about 3,000 vehicles a day or 65 percent in the last five years. It was also up about 20 percent on Hwy 200. The reps looked at how Washburn made a good location for meeting in central North Dakota.
