WAEDA moves to five member board
By Michael Johnson, Editor
The Washburn Area Economic Development Association board knows its no easy road after losing it’s director, but things continue to move forward as the board regroups. One of the first orders of business by the board at their annual meeting was to reduce its size from seven to five members. Board member Donna Sommer said the reduction was because of the difficulty to get a quorum to hold regular meetings. With five members, only three members are needed instead of four. With the reduction approved it was time to elect officers. President Newly Voigt said he would not be seeking re-election. The members voted Mike Nelson, Jane Christianson and Derek Laning to be placed on the ballot and the majority of members voted for Laning to fill the fifth seat. Members are now Luke Retterath, Wendy Spencer, Miles Gradin, Donna Sommer and Derek Laning.
