"I’m concerned about the way the commission operates. Unless you get on the agenda, you can’t speak."
Ray Hager brought up his concern at the July 14 Washburn City Commission meeting.
He suggested the board follow the "Roberts Rule of Order," which provides input from the public, whether your name is on the agenda or not.
Hager said, "You can limit the amount of time I speak, but to cut the public off? I don’t think that’s the right thing to do."
Mayor Duane Bauer said, "Most of the time, I ask if anyone has something to say. I will shut people down if they get out of hand or if what they’re saying is repetitive. We can’t sit here all night. But, I get where you’re coming from."
Hager replied, "I think you’re doing a good job and it’s a tough job."
