Teen center desperate for volunteers
By Danielle Abbott
When local teens aren’t in school or participating in athletic activities, there aren’t many opportunities for the kids to keep busy. Keeping area teens busy in a positive atmosphere helps not only to keep them safe, but it also keeps them out of trouble. Three weeks ago the Washburn Teen Center opened for the season. Unfortunately, they are already desperate for volunteers, with the number of volunteers extremely low. Driving past the Main Street building any Friday or Saturday evening, kids can be found biking and skateboarding on the sidewalks, and yet more children inside, looking out the large windows and laughing with friends.
