States attorney takes added duties in stride

Washburn resident Dennis Kost visited with McLean County commissioners about his concern that McLean County may get the short end of the stick if county states attorney Ladd Erickson is stretched to thin across various counties. Erickson has been assisting with a double-murder case in Mercer County, assisting cases in Sheridan County after the states attorney there resigned abruptly and has been continuing to work on cases for McLean County. During the April 3 county commission meeting, commissioners explained that it is not uncommon to help other counties as needed. Kost wanted to know how long Erickson would be expected to do this. “My primary concern is that it does not negatively impact McLean County,” Kost said.
