Locals join national movement with window hearts

Hundreds of hearts popped up around the area this week, as Washburn residents joined in on a trend meant to keep neighbors connected, despite social distancing.
The movement, cal led #aworldofhearts, was started by Mandy Gill of Bismarck on Friday evening. The goal of the page is to encourage people to post hearts in the windows of their home to show solidarity during COVID-19 quarantines and socializing restrictions. Gill said she got the idea from Facebook pages out of Canada and decided to start a group of her own. The page was initially localized to Bismarck, but after seeing an influx of people joining from out of the area, it expanded. “By Saturday afternoon we changed the group from
Bismarck, ND, USA and now the world,” Mandy said.
