Smiling Cyndie gives her all

The Positive People recognition is in its first year of honoring those who have gone above the call of duty to be a positive influence in the community. This is a small way to recognize good and promote the actions and ideas that make our community a better place. The first person to be nominated by a member of the community and then selected by the Leader-News is someone who has been involved in the area for over 30 years. This person not only works several jobs but she also volunteers countless hours for others. This Washburn resident is Cyndie Perkerewicz. Cyndie is a native of Park River and moved to Washburn when she married her husband, Richard, in 1976. Nearly as soon as she got her feet set down she began getting involved wherever possible to make a little money to make sure her growing family would have the things they needed. Within a couple years, Cyndie began driving school bus part-time, giving piano lessons to up to 18 kids a session and she was working at Wagon Wheel Lumber by 1979. She remembers other jobs in the mix, too, as her four kids started growing up, like delivering the Bismarck Tribune. Having a lot of jobs isn’t easy but it’s not necessarily what makes Cyndie such a positive person. Cyndie does her jobs the best she can and she does it all with a smile. She was nominated for the recognition by Washburn resident Rachel Retterath, who has personally seen the personality of Cyndie.
