Sisters pursue same dream to Hazen

Siblings don’t always share the same aspirations and dreams in life. But, sometimes, their paths align.
Sisters Emily Zinke and Anna Helmers not only share the same career pursuit as each other; they are also following in the footsteps of their father and his brother. John and James Helmers have been providing valuable eyecare and vision services to people all over the area, and now John’s daughters have come on board.
“I actually got my undergraduate degree in nursing, but I always knew that I wanted to come back and go into optometry,” Zinke said. After a brief interlude, she made her way west to Pacific University in Oregon, to the College of Optometry, where she was joined by her younger sister Anna. In May 2019, they graduated, and now they find themselves involved in the family business, Eyecare Professionals PC.
“Basically, we do primary care optometry,” Zinke said. “That’s not only just doing eyeglasses, but also optical health, both the external and internal parts of the eye.”
Eyecare Professionals has three offices in total: a primary sort of “headquarters” in Mandan, and two branch offices in Hazen and Washburn.
