Sharp family finds support after fire
When Cardinal head boys basketball coach Josh Sharp graduated from Washburn High School in 1998, moving away shortly after, he never imagined his alma mater would one day play a key role in helping his family recover from disaster. Josh, who joined the Washburn coaching staff in 2022 as the new head boys basketball coach, said his family was settling into a comfortable routine as the new year arrived. Meagan, Josh’s wife, started homeschooling their three boys - ages 12, 10 and7 - this fall and was “hitting a stride” with the new venture when disaster struck. A Dec. 6 fire that started in the kitchen did devastating damage to the Sharps’ home, displacing the family of five. It’s been a difficult adjustment for the entire house hold, Josh said, noting that his kids have had both good days and bad.
