Burgum: Each School to determine whether to have on-site learning

Schools have the option to start on-site education this fall, though they will be required to follow guidelines that include working with local health officials and having a distance
learning plan. In an afternoon press conference Tuesday, Governor Doug Burgum out lined guiding principals for schools to reopen this fall, if they choose to do so. Burgum said it was like “flipping a switch” to pull the 121,000 North Dakota students out of school in March, but returning to classrooms will be much more complex. Guidelines include a health
and safety plan and distance learning plan, which must be drafted by each respective school board and approved by state officials. “The distance learning plan will be different than
what was done this spring,” Burgum said.
