River Ag serves broad customer base

When the doors opened for business at the new River Ag building in early July, much of the products were still on order. The general manager Clark Price and store manager Jeanette Bachmeier were unsure just what the people might want on their shelves. What started to sell was kind of a surprise. “Chicken feed,” Price said. “I was surprised how many people have chickens.” In addition to the poultry products there is a full line of feeds for calves, cows and equine. Bachmeier noted that they even have dog and cat food and kitty litter. River Ag has many facets within its walls. In addition to all the farm and ranch supplies, there is an animal health and veterinary supply center, a seed warehouse and even an in-house commodity broker. Dale Effertz out of First Avenue Trading has a branch office in the store. The company is based in Sioux Falls, SD.
