By Erica Kingston, BHG Intern

The McLean County Fair can mark down another successful year for the books, with cooperating weather and a record attendance number. Wrapping up this past weekend, the Underwood fair grounds contained concerts, barbecue feeds, carnival rides, an array of food and buildings full of crafts and livestock to equal out to a notable 55th year. “Since we’ve had the carnival, this is the largest (fair) we’ve had,” said fair board president Diane Schell. “Friday and Saturday surpassed all three days last year.” Saturday, the second day, close to 1,500 people attended the fair. Implemented for the first time, the free pig roast turned out to be a favorable event of this year’s fair.
