After hitting an initial snag, a project that could mean promise for Coal Creek Station has been given the OK by the Lignite Research Council. The Lignite Research
Council, made up by 22 members, approved $3.4 million dollars of funding for a carbon capture storage project at the Blue Flint Ethanol Plant in Underwood. This was the second pass council took at the project, after approving it last month with a payback contingency. The council had initially approved the project with the stipulation that if the $7 mi l l ion project was unsuccessful , the $3.4 million of lignite research funding would need to be returned. The Nor th Dakota Industrial Commission, which gives final approval for the program, asked the council to reevaluate the decision.
