Preaching to the Choir
The Washburn speech team has been very active during the month of March as they’ve performed in consecutive showings on March 11 in New Salem, followed by a bang-up outing on their home campus with former coach Vickie Mayer on hand to assist in organizing the event. The competition saw the following students place: Dramatic: Elizabeth Duke; Humorous Duo: Molly Jennings/ Jake Dahl, 1st Place, State Qualifying; Elizabeth Duke/ Alexis Duke, 3rd Place; Maggie Jennings/ Dehmey Ternes, 8th Place; Humorous: Jake Dahl, 2nd Place; Poetry: Molly Jennings, 3rd Place; Alexis Duke, 5th Place; Isaiah Acevedo, Novice Award; Serious Duo: Jake Dahl/ Hannah Westrick, 1st Place, State Qualifying; Molly Jennings/ Maggie Jennings, 7th Place; Serious: Elizabeth Duke, 1st Place, State Qualifying.
