Some extra efforts and local sales tax funds seem to have been put to good use, as Painted Woods Golf Course reports 2018 net profits in the black for the first time in several years.
Painted Woods saw an extra 1,600 rounds of golf in 2018 in comparison to 2017, jumping from 3,600 rounds to 5,200. Though the increase fell short of the course’s aspirations of 6,500 rounds, board secretary Rachel Retterath said she is happy.
“When we expanded the course, we were thinking we needed 6,500 to 7,000 rounds to make the course cash flow, so we have made huge strides forwards toward that,” Retterath said.
Retterath said the course, which saw a net loss of $21,841 in 2017 and of $34,063 in 2016. In 2018, Painted Woods broke the streak.
“The 2018 net income was $30,296,” Retterath said. “This does include the fundraisers, donations and sales and use funds.”
