One program pays for another

With demolition of the old McLean County Courthouse imminent, there was not much McLean County Commissioner Steve Lee could say to Washburn’s Ray Wicklander last Tuesday morning other than they have to agree to disagree on the matter. At last Tuesday’s county commission meeting in Washburn, Wicklander made one last plea to the commission to stop the demolition of the century-old building, noting that he still felt the wording on the measure where citizens voted on whether or not to demolish the building was misleading. Commissioners stood by their decision to continue with the demolition, Lee noting that a judge had ruled in the commission’s favor, that the wording on the ballot regarding the courthouse was clear and not misleading.
