The Washburn School Board is expected to view cost estimates during next month’s meeting, after reviewing updated designs for a school renovation Monday night.
Jennifer Jackson, of JLG Architects, presented updated designs to attendees of Monday’s school board meeting. Jackson said she made changes to the project’s four phases, which are ranked in order of perceived necessity, based on comments from the board and from students and staff members.
Jackson said user meetings hosted in February garnered a lot of support for the weight room being relocated to the elementary wing of the school.
“I think students imagine that the weight room would also include some treadmills and things, instead of just weights,” Jackson said.
Jackson said a concern that arose during discussion over the weight room was the need for a womens coaching office and shower.
“As it is now, there are times when they have to shower with the athletes,” Jackson said, citing comments from staff members at earlier meetings.
