After five special meetings of the Washburn Public School board, it looks like the district has secured both a high school and elementary principal to join the staff this fall.
Current Solen principal Jeff Brandt has reportedly accepted the position of high school principal for Washburn, with Flasher K-12 principal Christina Reynolds set to take the elementary spot.
“Jeff Brandt was offered the high school position and accepted,” Washburn Superintendent Brad Rinas said. “Christina Reynolds was offered the elementary position and accepted.”
Rinas said that the school board conducted five special board meetings over the course of two weeks to interview candidates for the principal positions, with five applicants interviewed for high school and four for the elementary.
Candidates were able to spend time with teachers at the school prior to the interview, which included identical questions for each applicant. At the end of the process, the board decided on Brandt and Reynolds.
“We were pretty happy to get the two principals that we have,” Rinas said. “They were my top two choices and I was just really pleased with the process.”
