McLean County’s new emergency notification system is ready and will be tested this Friday at 10 a.m.
The system, called CodeRED, gives county officials the ability to deliver emergency messages to targeted areas or the entire county.
While phone numbers through the WRT, SRT and RTC phone providers in the county are in the database, people with cellphones must register their device through the county website. No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included.
"If your phone number is not in the database, you will not be called," said Richard Johnson, the county’s 911 coordinator.
To register a wireless device, log onto mcleancountynd.gov and follow the link at the bottom of the page to the "CodeRED Community Notification Enrollment" page.
