For the first time in the better part of a decade, there is a clothing pantry back in Washburn.
Evie Bardwell and Jenell Olson of the McLean Family Resource Center were on site Monday to open the doors of their new building, which houses what they are calling Washburn’s clothing outlet.
Lining the walls of the outlet are racks of children's, men’s and women’s clothing, with accessories, shoes and school supplies lined up by type and size. The carefully organized room is the work of Bardwell, who Olson said took on the project with enthusiasm.
“She did all of this,” Olson said, displaying a room full of categorized boxes of pre-sorted clothing, ready to be displayed.
Bardwell said she and a team of volunteers have been working hard to get the outlet ready to open, and that she’s proud of the end result.
Olson agreed, saying it had been a long process, but well worth it.
