More fun, adventures coming to State 4-H Camp

By Michael Johnson, Editor

The state’s only 4-H camp, previously known as the Western 4-H Camp, is now the North Dakota State 4-H Camp in Washburn. That’s not the only change coming to the camp as staff gears up for another summer filled with camps of all kinds. McLean County 4-H extension agent Michelle Effertz said the opportunities have increased for youth looking for an adventure this summer. “We’ve added several adventure camps this year,” Effertz said. Those camps include large-group games and sports; arts and crafts; nature exploration and shooting sports; and learning about life-long skills from healthy living to socializing. Other camps include horse camps from beginner to advanced; shooting sports camp  teaches hunter education, allows students to be certified in ATV use and teaches basic first aid safety; survivor outdoor camp is based on the “Survivor” game and pits teams against each other in challenging games; a family fun camp teaches outdoors skills and brings the family together for fun; military camp is a camp just for kids from military families.
