Miners close season at regionals

The Miners played the last game of their 2018 season on Monday night, falling to Garrison-Max in the first round of the Region 5 tournament.
Wilton-Wing volleyball players met the Troopers in Underwood Monday evening for a quarterfinal match in this year’s Region 5 tournament. The Troopers, at seed No. 3, would pull a few points ahead in the first set and keep the Miners, seed No. 6, at bay. Garrison-Max would eventually take the first set 25-21.
The Miners would keep pushing in set No. 2, keeping the Troopers within reach. But Garrison-Max would again edge out the ladies in purple and take a 25-20 win.
Small leads in the previous two sets would grow significantly in the third, as the Troopers pulled ahead by more than 10 points. At the end of the match, Garrison-Max would be up 25-13, taking the game and a place in the semifinals.
