The Wilton School board selected one of their own staff members to step into the superintendent position being vacated this summer.
Wilton principal Amanda Meier was chosen by the school board after a second round of interviews between the top two candidates for the school superintendent spot. The position is being vacated in June as Barb Kady retires after four years as the head of the school’s administration.
Meier, who started as principal two years ago, said Kady has mentored her and kept her involved in school decisions since the beginning. The pair will be working closely together over the next few months to make the transition as smooth as possible.
“I am most excited to build on the great work that Ms. Kady and our staff have invested in to provide a quality education to our students,” Meier said.
Meier previously worked at schools in Arizona before moving to Wilton with her family. She said that education is her passion, and that she felt a leadership position was a good way of sharing her fervor with other educators.
“I believe in growing and developing young people and encouraging them to test their limits and explore their talents,” Meier said. “I find supporting my staff in accomplishing this goal is just as rewarding.”
