Major street improvement plan in process

By Michael Johnson, Editor

City commissioner Derek Laning drove around town with Todd Norton of AE2S (the city's engineering firm) to view the many bad street areas recently. After seeing all the damage, caused by frost and high water tables, he recommended that the city go ahead with street work. He will be requesting $250,000 from the one-cent sales tax committee to help pay for the bill. Jasper Klein, design engineer with AE2S said that an agreement amount would cost about $22,100 to get started. All commissioners were in favor of advertising for bids to start the work. Laning said that there won't simply be patch placed over honey combed areas, it will be fixed right or graveled over until it can be fixed right.
