‘Bless You’ week in Washburn

Locals joined arm-in-arm this week to lend a hand and spread some joy throughout town during the first ever “Bless You” week.
Inspired to help residents needing assistance, company or an afternoon out of the house, the Washburn Methodist Church outreach team set seven days aside for “Bless You” week. Church members volunteered from Aug. 27 to Sept. 3 to help shut ins, those with disabilities and those who are struggling financially or spiritually throughout Washburn.
Over the period of a week, around 15 volunteers helped locals with projects, cleaning and simple outings. And though the Methodist Church launched the event, its members weren’t the only ones taking part.
Outreach team member Jo Kidd said flyers were sent out to all the local churches, and their congregations also stepped up.
