Looming with love

Nadine Berger was tickled pink when she received the gift of a rug loom from her husband, Kevin, about 10 years ago.
Knowing it was a well-taken-care-of machine, previously owned by Katherine Dinius, Kevin bought the loom in 2004 and Nadine has been making rugs ever since.
On Oct. 8, the Washburn resident completed her 1,000th rug. She said, "I knew all along that I wanted my 1,000th rug to be special."
With October being recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Nadine couldn’t think of a design more fitting than an "all-pink" rug.
Once she had the design in mind, Nadine got busy. Within four hours, she had her finished product in hand – a 40-inch, pink, cancer awareness rug.
Weaved together with different shades of pinks and a hint of white, Nadine said she was pleased with how the rug turned out.
