Local FFA chapter looks back at year
By Michael Johnson, Editor
The theme for the Washburn FFA banquet was one of responsibility. In fact, the theme for the year could have been responsibility as the youth involved in the chapter were all responsible for many projects that taught them to become better leaders. Like Shane Giedd, who served as the chapter president this year. Shane proved his speaking skills were gold as he lead the group through the 62nd annual awards night in Washburn School. Shane gave the introduction and welcomed in the guest speaker for the event, Andrew Kreidt. He is the SW Region Vice President from New Salem. Kreidt shared a message of how all of us have a duty to complete the jobs before us. “We shouldn’t be leaders just when we wear our blue and gold, Kreidt said as he proudly wore the blue and gold jacket of the FFA. “We should be leaders all the time.” Other leaders responsible for running the official meeting was vice president Heidi Scheetz, secretary Hailey Schauer, treasurer Drew Petersen, reporter Grant Tweeten, sentinel Scarlett Tweeten and advisor Mike Kamrath. This group of leaders followed the creed of the FFA, which sits on the shoulders of service.
