The first stage of reviewing Washburn City financials is reaching completion, with two more phases left of the process, which aims to identify the cause of a $200,000 deficit in the city’s debt services fund.
City Auditor Ranie Price provided a brief update during the Oct. 14 Washburn City Commission meeting, advising attendees and the board that there was still a good amount of work left to do.
Financial analyst Ryan Graf of AE2S Nexus reported to the Washburn City Office via email last week that he is approximately 85 percent done with Phase 1 of 3 in reviewing city finances. This first phase includes the review of existing assessment processes and levy amounts.
In total, Graf said he was reviewing roughly 25 different assessments.
