Hanging a rainbow above a fiery sky

A March 1 fire at Cross Ranch State Park destroyed the home of park manager Eric Lang, his wife, Nichol, and their 2-year-old daughter, Bristol.
The family of three escaped unharmed, but lost "everything" in the early morning blaze, including both of their vehicles. Two family pets – a dog and a cat – did not make it out alive.
We've all heard the saying, "After the storm, comes the rainbow." Well, the community of Washburn, in conjunction with surrounding towns, are hoping to hang a rainbow in the Lang family's sky this coming Sunday, March 29.
Beginning at 4 p.m., anyone and everyone is invited to stop by the Washburn Memorial Building for good food, a bake sale, raffle and toe-tapping music, with all proceeds to benefit the Lang family. A free-will donation is being received, with the event to conclude at 7 p.m.
Washburn's "Labor of Love" and area churches have joined forces to supply the meal – sloppy joes – and the goods available for purchase at the benefit's bake sale.
Event organizer Laura Gardner, Washburn, said contributions to the bake sale are welcomed and requested the items be dropped off at the memorial building by 3:30 p.m., to assist with planning and organization. Can't meet that deadline? "It's not a deal-breaker," Gardner said. "We welcome all donations."
