Grief support group meeting Thursdays
By Michael Johnson, Editor
Individuals in Washburn have organized a grief support group for anyone that has suffered a loss of a loved one. So far, five Thursday dates are scheduled for meetings at the First Lutheran Church in Washburn. The first meeting is today at 1 p.m. Meetings will continue each Thursday, excluding Thanksgiving. Those first five meetings will be used as a gauge to determine if there is an interest for the group in the community. Those from outside the community are encouraged to attend. “This is non-denominational, but we invite any pastor to attend if you choose and listen or give input,” Elaine Carr, Washburn said. “We are NOT professionals, but attend a grief support program in Bismarck at Eastgate Funeral Home under the direction of Carleen Hennenfent. She is supporting us and we are using her material with her permission to bring to these classes.” Carr wasn’t so sure she wanted to take charge in bringing the class to Washburn but her friend Shana Morgan, who also attends the grief support group in Bismarck, told her she could do it, and she was there to support her. Carr said Morgan has been a blessing to her in that way.
