Games, cotton candy and bingo...and more bingo

Calling all kids and "kids at heart" who are looking to have a little fun. This coming Saturday, you are in for a lot of fun if you mark "Washburn Lions Carnival" on your calendar. The three-hour event kicks off at 3 p.m. when the doors to the Washburn Memorial Building swing open to the public.
Let's take a look what the Lions have in store for the community...
The McLean County Sheriff's Department will entertain and inform young ones with their public-relations (PR) booth. Lion Arden Wagner said, "The kids will learn how handcuffs work and things like that."
The Washburn Ambulance Squad, cotton-candy maker in tow, will sponsor a game for the kids. According to Wagner, the local Cub Scouts have "something" planned as well.
Lion Judy Beaudry will be on hand to conduct a quick vision screening for young attendees. A short program about "Leader Dogs for the Blind" will also be presented to all ages.
The biggest draw of all, according to Wagner, is the hours-long bingo party. "Every year, it seems we have to add extra tables to accommodate the growing crowd," he said. "Bingo really draws people in.
