Farmers feeling optimistic

It’s still early, but things are looking good.
So say a pair of local farmers, who are hopeful that with a little sunshine and the right amount of rain, crops will fare well this year.
Brothers Casey and Corey Krush farm durum, pinto beans and corn in Wilton, and said so far this year, they’re on track for a good season.
“We’re pretty much right on cue,” Casey said Tuesday.
The brothers said the spring has provided a little more moisture than average so far, without risking flooded fields, and that happy medium is what they’re looking for.
When heavy rain hit the area early in the summer last year, corn crops shot up to shoulder height by the fourth of July.
