Schools all over the country are in full swing now, but this year, area schools are facing some major improvements - some financial, some physical and some emotional.
Wing is reaping the benefits of money for new equipment. The school’s playground was in dire need of facelift and has now received that, in the form of a brand new jungle gym complete with three shiny new slides.
"When I got here, there was a merry-go-round and a couple other things," Wing Public School Principal and Superintendent David Goetz said. "Now we have enclosed it and made it look a lot better."
Thanks to donations of money and of time from the community, Goetz hopes that students will feel even more compelled to come to school every day and learn.
"My goal is to make this a fun place to go so kids want to come back. The goal is to keep them here until they graduate," Goetz said. "And I think we cleaned it up and made it a lot nicer and it makes kids want to come to school."
Goetz, who is working at the school for the first time this year, emphasized that the school administration was very thankful for all of the help and support from the community, saying it would never have happened without everyone’s help.
