Disposing with dignity

Washburn-area residents now have a place to retire their flags year-round.
A flag disposal box has been set up at the McLean County Courthouse, where locals and passersby can drop off damaged or aged flags for official retirement.
Chief deputy auditor Lori Foss said when she heard about the disposal boxes, she put in a request, knowing it would be a benefit to area residents.
“I just thought it would be a great service to offer at the courthouse,” Foss said.
Foss said she requested two flag disposal boxes, one for the courthouse and one for the Garrison City Hall. Foss said the boxes have now been set up and are ready for use by the public.
