Digging into the pipeline

Sheridan and Wells County residents sat down Monday night to get some answers on the Red River Valley Water Supply project which aim to place a 72-inch pipeline in many of their backyards.
Approximately 15 landowners met with Garrison Diversion representatives during an hour-long meeting at the McClusky headquarters.
Duane DeKrey, General Manager, kicked off the meeting by telling the crowd that the diversion wanted to address questions about the proposed project, which would have an intake either 5 miles south of Washburn or at the McClusky Canal.
“We heard some concerns about getting information on how this is going, so we wanted to explain everything, talk about issues and let you guys ask questions,” DeKrey said.
DeKrey went through a short presentation about the purpose of the project and background on droughts in North Dakota.
“When the dirty thirties came along, we lost a ton of people in North Dakota,” DeKrey explained.
