Butler Machinery will provide three motorgraders as McLean County goes from owning to leasing.
Highway Superintendent Jim Grey recommended Butler over RDO Equipment. But Grey said the decision didn’t come easy.
"These numbers are close. The numbers are good," he said.
Grey said he conferred with operators before making his choice.
"It’s a tough decision, but I guess I would make the recommendation you award the motorgraders to Butler Machinery," he said to commissioners at their meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 2.
At their Jan. 19 meeting, commissioners and Grey reviewed bids from the two firms. Dustin Melby of RDO offered a 2016 John Deere 772GP at a lease price of $37,798 annually. That is compared to a purchase price of $314,000.
