McLean County will be getting another K-9 following the county commissioners’ approval at last Tuesday’s regular meeting.
McLean County Sheriff J.R. Kerzmann reported that K-9 donations were up to $11,250 following $8000 in recent forfeitures. That will still leave just shy of $5000 in the fund to cover the costs of travel to obtain the dog and make any modifications necessary to transport the dog to North Dakota.
Kerzmann said the department should be able to have the new dog up and working before the end of the year.
In other Sheriff’s Department business, the commission approved purchasing groceries for the jail inmates from Turtle Lake’s Main Street Market following the recommendation of County Jail Administrator Wade Krohmer.
Main Street Market’s pricing was better on several staples the jail orders regularly, and will also deliver to the jail free of charge. The commissioners approved the change, switching from Krause’s to Main Street Market.
Commissioners Steve Lee and Barry Suydam reported on road concerns within the county, with Lee reporting that repair/filling of a hole needs to be done on Cty. Rd. 6, and an end-cap of a culvert needs to be repaired/replaced.
