A proposed ordinance for the City of Washburn would increase the pay rate for city commissioners and the president of the commission. Citing compensation rates not being changed in decades, the Washburn City Commission conducted a first reading of a new city ordinance that would triple salaries for the board. The ordinance, No. 153, outlines annual salaries for four commissioners and the president of the board, with each commissioner receiving $150 per month and the president earning $225 per month. The change would set individual commissioner salaries at $1,800 and the president’s salary at $2,700. Current pay for board members is $600 annually, or $2,400 for all four.
