Area businesses are adding on additional hours and merchandise specials in hopes of bouncing back from weather that shut down a majority of local retail sales last week. Tana Waldren Larsen, owner of Rollin’ Rebel Boutique, said that her business managed to
stay open during last week’s blizzard but that the conditions outside clearly impacted those inside the shop. “Last week we continued to
be open throughout the week but saw very little traffic outside resulting in the same inside,” Larsen said. Larsen said that the holiday
season generally accounts for 15 percent of the year’s total sales and that recent business at Rollin’ Rebel lately have been down markedly from the same period over the past two years, “Business has definitely been impacted,” Larsen said. “People just haven’t been out in the cold weather and with the bad roads. And are not buying clothes because they don’t have anywhere to go.”
