Carnival Proceeds double for 2020

The Carnival for a Cause returned to Washburn Public School last week, with proceeds for local nonprofits more than doubling last year’s efforts.
Just short of $2,500 was raised in the one-night-only event on Jan. 23, with the inaugural Carnival for a Cause silent auction making up roughly half of the profits. Remaining proceeds were gathered through ticket sales by Washburn and Turtle Lake-Mercer/McClusky basketball players.
All of the proceeds will be donated to two McLean County non-profits: The McLean Family Resource Center and Lord’s Pantry.
Each of the two beneficiaries of the event will receive $1,226, more than twice the donation amounts of the 2019 carnival.
