After interviewing five candidates and selecting three finalists, the Washburn City Commission has selected its top pick for filling the vacant auditor’s position.
City Commission President Larry Thomas made a motion during a special meeting Tuesday at 5 p.m. to offer the City Auditor position to Ranie Price, a Washburn resident. Thomas said Price was his No. 1 choice due to qualifications and proximity.
Price, the only candidate out of the three finalists that lives in Washburn, currently works as an accountant for Widmer Roel of Bismarck. She served as McLean County’s deputy auditor from 1996-2000.
Price was chosen over two other finalists, Sandra Bohrer and Nicolette Boehler. Bohrer lives in Stanton and currently works as the chief financial officer of Northland Community Health Center in Turtle Lake. She was the Hazen City Auditor from 2005-2012. Boehler lives in Bismarck and works as a grants coordinator for the City of Bismarck.
The finalists were chosen from a pool of five individuals that were interviewed during closed meetings on May 1 and 2. The commission initially received 10 applications for the job.
Commissioner Noelle Kroll seconded Thomas’s motion, which then passed unanimously by the full commission.
