Board starts superintendent search

For the second year in a row, the Wilton Public School board is starting their search for a new superintendent as current administrator Amanda Meier steps down.
During a special meeting of the board on Monday night, the group attempted to tackle the soon-to-be-vacant superintendent office at the school. Meier, who joined the school as elementary principal in 2015 and has been serving as superintendent for the last school year, announced last week that she will be leaving at the end of June.
“I want to thank everyone who believed in me and supported me. I also want to apologize that I couldn’t find the role of superintendent fulfilling,” Meier said in her letter of resignation. “I love the Wilton staff, students and families, but unfortunately could not find a love for the job.”
Meier said she has accepted a position as an elementary principal for Mandan Public Schools. Board members expressed disappointment in the decision, but accepted Meier’s resignation.
The board then turned to filling the position, something that the group acknowledged would be difficult given the experience level of the job and the timing.
“We can’t afford to sit on this,” board member Angela Riehl said. “We need to commit.”
