Bluegrass festival rounding the corner

A local celebration of bluegrass music is returning once again, with bands and music lovers set to gather at Cross Ranch State Park next weekend for the Missouri River Bluegrass Festival.
The 28th-annual festival, scheduled for June 15 and 16, celebrates bluegrass music with live performances and an educational workshop.
“My most favorite part of any bluegrass festival is the Learn a bluegrass song workshop which is held at most festivals all over the world,” event organizer and member of Cotton Wood bluegrass, Jill Wiese said. “This is the time of the weekend when the headline bands teach a song for free to the participants for two hours.”
The workshop is set for Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the park. Attendees are encouraged to bring a guitar, mandolin, banjo, bass, fiddle, dobro or just their natural voice.
Visitors to the event can also see the bands in action both days of the event, with several groups set to play the festival.
Monroe Crossing, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, will be playing the event, but not for the first time.
