'Blarney Bash'

Craic [krak]: fun and entertainment, especially good conversation and company, particularly prominent in Ireland.

On March 14, "Blarney Bash" ticket holders will shuffle through the doors of the Washburn Memorial Building for an evening of fine dining and dancing; once there, guests will stay for the craic.

In its 19th year, the Washburn Dollars for Scholars Dinner and Dance is going green for a St. Patrick's Day theme.

The social hour begins at 6 p.m., with an array of appetizers available. Washburn youth will begin serving the meal, which includes guests' choice of "clover prime rib" or "gold coin chicken," at 7 p.m. By playing the part of waiters and waitresses, students earn valuable scholarship points, making it a win-win for all parties involved. The dance immediately follows the meal.

Dollars for Scholars board member and event chairperson Donna Gunderson, Washburn, said, "It's a whole evening dedicated to those who like to be treated very well. Everything is brought to you – you don't have to get out of your chair if you don't want to. A person feels pampered the moment you walk through the door."
