Bids received for Washburn signage

Several price quotes have been received to install signage along Hwy. 83, bringing attention to Washburn's downtown business district.
The bids range in price from $40,000 to $55,000 for a 4-by-12-foot digital sign.
Washburn Area Economic Development Association (WAEDA) President Mike Nelson said, "At that price point, one sign would be leaps and bounds. But, if a sign is going to go up, I'd like it to be a programmable one so we can constantly change it."
Director Rachel Retterath said, "I like the digital component, as well, but how are we going to pay for it? Forty-thousand dollars for a sign is extraneous."
When discussing a means to pay for the signage, the Washburn Civic Club and the City of Washburn were offered as sources to request funds from.
Where will the sign be placed? A location has not yet been determined, although the south end of Main Avenue at the Hwy. 83 intersection received a lot of positive feedback from board members.
